Cavani Quartet Performs at Clinton Middle Schools Deeply committed to the teaching of chamber music, the Cavani Quartet has developed a series of educational and outreach programs for a wide variety of settings and for audiences of all ages. The following programs are available in addition to the programs designed for your special needs. Preschool Programs are designed to introduce very young children to string instruments using story book fables and poetry set to music and brought to life by the Cavani Quartet. Fairy tales include "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" and poetry includes verses from "Winnie the Pooh" by A.A. Milne. The children are treated to a medley of music from Mozart to "Pop goes the Weasel" and are able to interact freely with members of the quartet. This program can range in time from 20 - 40 minutes and should take place in an intimate setting. Recommended for ages Pre-K - 2nd grade, this program is fun for adults as well as children. Team Up With Music illustrates the fundamentals of teamwork and sharing while creating an appreciation of the artists, their instruments and their music. Drawing a connection between group activities as seemingly diverse as sports and chamber music, the program creates a fast-paced, fun, and interactive atmosphere featuring repertoire ranging from Beethoven to the Beach Boys. Recommended for grades 3 - 5, "Team Up With Music" can take place in a classroom, cafeteria, library, gymnasium, choir room, or any facility that will accommodate closeness of audience to the performers. Download Team Up With Music Outside The Box programs are designed specifically for middle and high school age audiences. This highly interactive program provides students with the opportunity to respond and dialogue with members of the quartet on a wide variety of subjects relating to music including interpretation, compositional techniques, career development, social and historical context and rehearsal techniques. This program brings the students into the very essence of the live chamber music experience and features a broad spectrum of music chosen from masterpieces from 18th-21st centuries, including genres of jazz and rock and roll. These programs are best for audiences of 100 or less, and work well in an intimate setting i.e., choir ,orchestra, band room or library. Great for non-music or music classes alike. The Art of Listening develops imaginative new ways of listening to music by engaging the active participation of the listener's other senses and perceptions. Using references to the visual arts and other disciplines, the program invites the audience to share its responses to different selections of music. The program is an ideal experience for young people from middle school through high school and is especially appealing to family audiences. Chamberfest is an adult amateur chamber music workshop which brings together non-professional musicians in the community to share in the process of studying repertoire, coaching intensively with members of the Cavani String Quartet, participating in a master class, and performing in a recital setting. Participants experience a unique opportunity to cultivate mastery of their instruments and to develop tools of expression and communication in a positive and encouraging atmosphere. M. A. P. Program: Music, Art, & Poetry; Traveling Through the Arts This program is designed to provide the opportunity for children to interpret music through visual art and poetry.
Collage: Music & Poetry is a unique collaboration between the Cavani Quartet and poet Mwatabu Okantah.First conceived to introduce classical music and contemporary poetry to Cleveland area high school students, "Collage" takes the audience on an electrifying journey through poetry woven in and around music. Having garnered rave reviews, the program has become widely popular at universities and schools around the country. "Collage" has also been a feature presentation at Merkin Concert Hall and the National Chamber Music America Conference in New York City. Informances are informal concerts for all ages presenting selections of traditional quartet repertoire along with commentary from the Quartet. These 30 - 40 minute programs promote interest in full length public concerts and bring live music to those otherwise unable to come to the concert hall. The Cavani Quartet has offered "Informances" for schools, service clubs, retirement centers, hospitals, correctional institutions and countless other community organizations. Master Classes, Workshops and Seminars consist of coaching and instruction for ensembles and individual students of all levels.
